Power-to-Ammonia Competitive Landscape of projects in the North of Chile

Context

Hinicio conducted an in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis of different Power-to-Ammonia concepts across Chile, focusing on the northern (Antofagasta) and southern (Magallanes) regions. The study aimed to identify the techno-economic strengths and weaknesses of developing a project in the southern region (Magallanes) compared to the northern region (Antofagasta).

Proyect Overview

Description

The project’s scope and methodology included mapping and characterizing renewable ammonia projects under development in northern Chile. It involved defining and characterizing four prominent Power-to-Ammonia concepts in the region. These concepts were optimized and techno-economically characterized, focusing on value chain sizing, levelized costs, Class 5 Capex and Opex estimations, and high-level carbon footprint scenarios.
