Global Framework Agreement for Power-to-Methanol Development

Context

Hinicio conducted a systems architecture optimization and design for a methanol plant interconnected with a cement plant.

Proyect Overview

Description

The project focused on analyzing California’s electricity system, particularly the power market, and evaluating the feasibility of interconnection. It assessed synergies with existing facilities, emphasizing the integration of electrolysis-derived oxygen into cement production. Key activities included:

  • Conducting trade-off studies on electricity supply strategies, methanol production technologies, and storage options, including batteries, hydrogen storage, and thermal storage with heat recovery.
  • Applying systems engineering principles to optimize scenarios for efficiency, scalability, and defining the optimal landing configuration for the best business case.
  • Designing the physical architecture and creating preliminary drawings, including a Single Line Diagram and Layout, to highlight the general arrangement and support the electrical permit application process.
  • Hinicio added value

    • Integration of multiple system constraints to define a feasible and optimized project.
    • Service: Project Development Assistance
