Your role as Consultant
As a Policy & Regulation Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in advising clients on the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors such as aviation, maritime, steel, chemicals, fertilizers, and heavy industry. You will proactively monitor key developments in the European hydrogen landscape and relevant Member States, acting as the central point of expertise within the organization to consolidate and disseminate strategic insights within the organization.
Collaborating with colleagues across our international offices, you will lead and contribute to projects involving feasibility assessments, market studies, implementation strategies, and stakeholder engagement.
Your expertise in European and national energy policies will be essential in helping clients navigate regulatory landscapes, identify risks and opportunities, and develop new business lines that accelerate the energy transition.
Key responsibilities
- Policy & Regulatory Monitoring: Track and analyse regulatory developments across Europe and key EU Member States, assessing their implications for clients and internal teams.
- Task Management: Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of project tasks and workstreams, staying within scope and budget.
- Solution Design: Understand client needs and design innovative, tailored methodologies that deliver impactful results.
- Analytical Leadership: Conduct in-depth analyses and generate actionable insights alongside leading experts.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their strategic goals and ensuring their needs are met.
- Opportunity Generation: Identify new project opportunities and foster connections with private companies, strategic partners, and public institutions.
- Proposal Development: Lead or support the creation of compelling project proposals, including scope, budget, and timelines.
- Knowledge Management: Contribute to the development and dissemination of expertise in policy and regulation.
- Mentorship: Support the growth of junior colleagues through guidance and knowledge sharing during project execution.
Desired skills and experience
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, Business, Public Policy, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in policy impact assessments, market studies, or strategic consulting—preferably on hydrogen and e-fuels (incl. Renewable Energy Directive, EU ETS) and in heavy industry sectors.
- Proven ability to deliver complex international projects under tight deadlines.
- Strategic thinker with experience developing and applying multidimensional frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset and motivation to work with cross-functional teams.
- Business-oriented with strong networking capabilities.
- Empathetic leadership style, creativity, and resilience in problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (C2 level).
- Proficiency in additional languages such as Dutch, German, French, or Spanish is a plus.
